Veterans of murdered Lee Rigby’s battalion are taking on David Cameron to stop their old unit being closed. They want a 1,000-strong crowd to march on London in October to save 2nd Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers from Army cutbacks. Soldiers could be reposted from November, just six months after Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered in Woolwich, East London. Tory MP and ex-Fusilier captain John Baron warned: “In fighting to save 2RRF, I believe we are fighting to save the regiment. “I cannot promise victory, but the odds are sufficient to warrant a final push. This government has responded to just causes in the past.” Prime minister David Cameron will be asked to postpone imminent closure plans.
