POLICE today released pictures of a man they want to trace after a passenger was subjected to “homophobic abuse” on a train between Leeds and Huddersfield.
The Asian man is said to have abused a 33-year-old man from Manchester, who boarded the train at Leeds on September 10 between 8.40 and 9.10pm.
The man in the pictre, who was accompanied by a woman, left the train at Huddersfield.
PC John Clethro of British Transport Police said: “If you recognise the man pictured please come forward as we believe you have important information which could assist in this investigation.
“No-one should have to be subjected to any form of verbal abuse or offensive comments whilst travelling on the rail network, which on its own is completely unacceptable and when it has a homophobic undertone it is even more deplorable.”
Anyone with information should call 0800 40 50 40 or 61016 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
