A woman who was sexually assaulted by two men in an underground car park is being urged by police to contact them.

The victim was attacked in an underground car park on New York Street in Manchester city centre at 2.25am on Saturday.

Police only know about the incident because it was caught on CCTV. It was reported to them on Tuesday after a recording of the footage was reviewed.

Officers are urging the woman to come forward. She was white and aged about 20. The two men who attacked her were black and are believed to have been in a group with four other men at the time of the attack.

Chief Supt Nick Adderley said: “The woman hasn’t yet reported the assault to police and we are extremely anxious to know she is safe and well and give her any support she needs.

“Our primary concern is for her welfare so we would ask that she gets in touch with police or St Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre so we can help her.

“We are in the early stages of our enquiries however we are working hard to identify the potential offenders. We have extra patrols in the area and would ask that anyone with information or any concerns get in touch.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 3221 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
