AN independent Scotland would leave an open door for immigrants to Britain as a whole, say experts.
Migration Watch UK warned yesterday against “the destruction of our border controls”.
Last week the Scottish National Party spelt out the future if Scots vote for independence next September.
It proposes to allow lower-paid immigrants to stay, let would-be refugees work and end the deportation of failed asylum seekers while maintaining open borders.
Last night, MigrationWatch UK chairman Sir Andrew Green said: “These proposals are unsound and, indeed, unnecessary for Scotland.
“This would not just be a back-door to the rest of the UK, it would be a barn door.

MigrationWatch says Scotland could not join the EU and still opt out of Europe’s Schengen free-movement zone.
Meanwhile pressure is mounting on the Government to not get rid of Asbos. Several councils told Home Office minister Norman Baker they fear being unable to tackle “aggressive beggars” prior to a new influx of EU migrants.
